Homestyle Brownies from the Union Kitchen
Ingredients for Brownies:
- 3/4 cup (1.5 sticks) unsalted butter
- 3 ounces unsweetened chocolate, chopped
- 1.5 cups granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 3 large eggs
- 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt

Baking Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to a temperature of 350°F (175°C). Prepare an eight-inch square baking dish by greasing it with either cooking spray or butter.
- Melt the butter and chocolate together in a saucepan over low heat, stirring until completely smooth.

Create the Batter:
Once melted, remove from heat and let cool slightly before mixing in sugar and vanilla extract.
Add eggs one at a time, ensuring each is well incorporated before adding the next.
Stir in flour and salt until just combined.
Pour this batter into your prepared baking dish. Bake for about 25 to 35 minutes or until the top forms a crust and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Allow brownies to cool completely before frosting. Once cooled, cut them into bars for serving.
Makes approximately two dozen servings.
Luscious Chocolate Icing Recipe:
Use coffee-flavored liqueur such as Kahlúa or another preferred spirit/liquor (approximately two to three tablespoons).
Icing Preparation Steps:
Melt together butter along with chocolate either on stovetop using low heat setting or within microwave until smooth consistency achieved.
Mix thoroughly after adding vanilla essence plus half portion powdered sweetener; continue stirring while gradually incorporating remaining amount alongside chosen liquor till spreadable texture results.
Spread over cooled brownie slab evenly prior cutting individual squares/bars ready consumption!
