On Saturday, September 3rd, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Wal-Mart locations nationwide will host the inaugural “Smart Parent… Safe Child” event in collaboration with the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children and Ross Products.
Event Details and Offerings
During this event, families will receive complimentary child ID kits that feature cutting-edge DNA technology along with a space to update their child’s photograph regularly. These kits are part of an initiative aimed at equipping parents with tools necessary for ensuring their children’s safety.
“We have enjoyed a long-standing partnership with Wal-Mart and appreciate their ongoing commitment to educating parents on child safety and well-being,” said Ernie Allen, President of the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children. “Being prepared and discussing preventive measures with children are key steps in keeping them safer.”
Safety Recommendations from Experts
The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children provides these important guidelines for parents and guardians:
- Keep an up-to-date, high-quality photograph of your child readily available in case of emergencies.
- Avoid letting young children venture out alone; clearly define safe places they are allowed to visit.
- Always be aware of your children’s whereabouts and who they are spending time with.
- Never leave children unattended in vehicles under any circumstances.
- Engage in open conversations about safety; use trips to malls or parks as opportunities for teaching moments.

The event will also offer additional health and safety tips from brands like Similac Advance, PediaSure, Ensure Healthy Mom, Fisher-Price, General Mills, Nestlé, and Procter & Gamble.
